Hey everyone! I'm starting the restoration of a Vintage Sargent No79 plane, but it's missing the fence, rails, and depth gauge. I'm on the hunt for sources that can ship parts to the UK. If anyone has a No79 and some calipers, I'd greatly appreciate close-up photos and measurements to help replicate the missing parts. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Just a heads-up, Stanley 78 planes are quite similar, but don’t assume the parts will fit perfectly—some might not be compatible.
You should check out the Facebook group called The Vintage Tool Patch. A lot of the members are based in the UK, and many have spare planes and parts they auction off weekly. You might find what you need there!
Awesome, thanks! I’ll get my wife to join since I don’t have an account!
I own a No79 too. The depth stop from a Stanley 78 didn’t fit mine, so be careful with parts interchangeability. If you're investing in this restoration, putting that money towards a Stanley 78 might be worth it; it has features like a depth adjustment lever that could be really useful.
That’s really good to know! I’m considering making a custom wooden fence and depth gauge instead of buying parts for this. It seems like the Stanley 78 might be a better option long-term.
If you’re aiming for original parts, it might actually be cheaper to buy a complete Stanley 78 plane instead. They’re pretty common on sites like eBay. There are also replacement parts available that might work for you, like the needed threaded fence rod.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep that in mind. It could be smart to find a complete one to use for spare parts.

Got it, I'll research the thread sizes first. Fingers crossed they match up!
