I'm curious about whether adding fertilizer to propagating plants is beneficial. If it is, what are the best types to use?

Using specialized propagation fertilizers can be effective. There are products like Prop Drops designed specifically for this purpose, and I recall a white powder meant for propagation, though I can't remember its name right now. Just a heads-up: regular fertilizers can be too harsh for the delicate new roots and might cause damage. It’s best to wait until you have a solid root system before using those.
Thanks for the info! This really clears things up for me. 🙂
What do you think might happen if you add fertilizer? It seems like none of the guides suggest doing it.
Maybe they just don’t know what they’re talking about. This is a plant community, not a ‘if you don't know, leave’ kind of place, come on.
I’m pretty new to plant care and didn’t look it up because I’ve seen Google give wrong info. I wanted real advice from experienced plant owners!
I think it’s okay to use a very diluted liquid fertilizer for propagation, like around 10% of the recommended strength. I haven't actually tried it, though, so take it with a grain of salt!

I've heard that too! The new roots are fragile, and fertilizers can be a bit intense for them.
