Is it Too Late to Plant Tulip Bulbs If They’ve Started Sprouting?

I forgot to plant my tulip bulbs last fall and just noticed that some are starting to sprout while stored in their box. I'm wondering if I can still plant them now or if it's too late to do anything. My daffodils are also sprouting outside. I'm in Zone 6b, so what are my chances here?

Your tulip bulbs might still make it! They could survive being planted now, but blooming this year might be a hit or miss. Just don't expect too much from them if they start sprouting already.

Awesome, thank you!

If your ground isn't frozen solid, you should be okay to plant them. If you can manage to get them in the ground while the soil is thawed, you might get lucky! Just know that the results might be uncertain depending on the timing.

Could you freeze the bulbs for a couple of days and then plant?

Thanks! Just glad they’d still be usable even if they aren’t able to bloom.
