I'm looking for advice on whether to repaint or completely replace my deck. It's in rough shape and I think some boards need replacing. If any of you have repainted your deck, I'd love to hear about your experience, costs, and the process involved. I'm weighing options and might even go for a full replacement depending on the price.

I resurfaced my small deck, about 30x12, with a built-in bench, and let me tell you, it was a workout! After five weekends of sanding, scraping, and painting, I was exhausted. A couple of months later, though, I noticed some peeling spots again. It seemed like a lot of effort for only a temporary fix. Think about your budget and time; you might want to swap to something like Trex, which is low maintenance but costs around $5 per square foot. If you do decide to repaint, make sure you get a warranty for the work. Using a high-quality paint like Rodda SharkSkin can help too!

Thanks for the tips! We just bought the house a couple of years ago, and it looks like they painted it without proper prep. It’s all peeling on one side.
