Hey everyone, I'm in the process of setting up some drainage for my house and I have a question. I'm planning to run my downspouts into 4" underground non-perforated drain pipes, and I've bought some 6" NDS Speed-D catch basins to place after each downspout. Does this sound like a good plan?

I've gotta say, catch basins are only going to capture part of the water. The rest might spray up against your foundation, which isn’t great. It might be better to connect your gutters directly to that 4" pipe. You can find connectors specifically for that purpose. If you're worried about backups, consider adding a wye fitting upside down with a grate facing away from the house to help with overflow.

I appreciate the tip! I’ll be putting these on 8 downspouts, but at around $100 each with the catch basin kit, it's pretty steep. Plus, they drain the water from the basin directly into the ground underneath, which doesn’t sit well with me since they’ll be right next to the house.
