Ideas for Making a Small Primary Bathroom More Functional?

Hey everyone! I recently bought my first house that has a primary bathroom measuring only 4'11" x 3'11". It feels really cramped with a small vanity, toilet, and shower all crammed into that space. I'm also wondering if there's a way to better utilize my walk-in closet that's next to the bathroom, which is 5'9" x 6'11". I love the closet, but it's kind of frustrating that the bathroom is so tiny. If anyone has suggestions or ideas for improvements, as well as how to share a screenshot of the floor plan, I'd appreciate it! Here's the link to the floor plan: https://imgur.com/a/pWhr6rK. Looking forward to your thoughts!

It sounds like the best bet is to make use of that walk-in closet. A full remodel might be necessary to create a more functional layout where the bathroom feels bigger. If you can steal a couple of feet from the closet, that could really help. It's often easier to find storage solutions for clothes than to live with a cramped bathroom.

I’ve thought about that too, but I’m unsure how moving plumbing would work. Do you think shifting things around could still allow for a functional closet?

You seem to have a lot of options to consider! If you're open to it, relocating the toilet closer to the sink might clear up some space. You could do something like creating a larger vanity on one wall. A more efficient layout can sometimes completely change how the room feels!

Great point! I think I need to bring in someone to do the measurements and layout plans. Might also be beneficial to check out some IKEA vanities or smaller sink options.

Have you thought about putting a pocket door from the bathroom into the closet and maybe moving the vanity inside the closet? That way you could remove the vanity from the bathroom and free up space for better configurations. It sounds tricky but it could work!

That’s a great idea! A pocket door would definitely save space. I’m curious about the cost, though. Is it usually expensive to do that kind of framing?
