Hey everyone! I noticed that outside my basement, right above the window blocks, there's a section of exposed wood that looks like it should be covered. It seems important because it's holding up a main beam. Any ideas on how to properly cover or seal it?

It sounds like the wood should definitely be covered to prevent moisture issues. Ideally, the installer would have sealed and flashed the wood. If you can share a photo, that would help a lot! It can give us a better idea of the situation, and we can suggest ways to protect it, maybe with flashing or caulking.

Here's a link to a photo I saved: https://imgur.com/a/m07Ztt4. It looks like there was some mortar over the wood at one point, but there are also some old termite holes.
