I'm living in Pennsylvania and I'm considering moving into a camper van to save on expenses. My partner and I are a young couple with no pets, and I'd love to hear about any life experiences related to living in a camper. Can anyone share their insights or tips? Thanks!

I’ve actually lived in a van! My experience was mixed. Sure, there’s freedom, but it can feel a bit isolating. I met a lady who tried it for a year but quit when she started getting too many offers of help from homeless people... which was kind of a wake-up call for her. Just something to think about!

Wow, that’s an eye-opener! It's definitely not as glamorous as it looks on Instagram.

My wife and I sold our house and built our own van. Let me tell you, it's been an adventure! While it hasn't saved us tons of money, the experiences we've had are priceless—especially camping in National Forests. Just be aware that it can get challenging with things like water access and heating in winter. And if you’re going for the DIY approach, it doesn’t have to be perfect as long as it works for you!

That's inspiring! I love the idea of building your own van—it must feel so rewarding!

And very true about being handy! It saves a lot when you can fix things yourself.

Living in a camper can be tricky! I’d say make sure you really think it through—having a truck with a fifth wheel might be a better option if you can swing it. Trust me, it usually ends up being more expensive than renting a place, especially when you're considering campground fees. Just keep that in mind!

Campground fees are real, but some places let you stay for longer without breaking the bank, so it's possible to budget down.

Totally agree! I thought it would be cheaper too, but then the costs add up quickly.
