Hey everyone! I recently painted my rims with a silver acrylic paint, and I'm having some issues. The paint isn't hardening at all. The first time I tried, I accidentally used too much paint and it left fingerprints everywhere. Now, even after using primer and applying several thin coats about an hour apart, the paint is still giving off silver residue, even after a whole day. The finish looks great, but it's just not setting properly. Should I wait it out for a week or should I just scrap this whole project?

Have you tried using a light bulb to help with curing? Place a bulb about a foot away from the paint. The gentle heat can assist in hardening it out. Just be cautious not to put it too close to avoid damaging the surface!
It sounds like you need to check the instructions for the paint you used. Some acrylic paints set with a specific time frame, and trying to apply additional coats afterwards can mess things up. If you're past that window, you might be looking at a complete redo before it sets right.
There are a couple of things that could be causing your paint to not cure properly. First off, check the paint quality. If you’re using a generic brand, it might not harden properly. Also, consider the environment where you’re painting. High humidity or low temperatures can definitely inhibit the curing process. Maybe try moving it to a warmer spot if possible?
Give it some more time! Acrylic paint can take a while to fully cure—sometimes even a week, especially if it's cooler or more humid than ideal. Just be patient and let it sit for a bit longer before making any decisions.

Thanks for the advice! I did check, and the datasheet mentions it might not harden completely. Do you think I could just clear coat over it?
