How can I level out bumpy ground for my garden without heavy machinery?

I'm looking to expand my garden this year, but the area I want to work on has some serious bumps and uneven patches. Last year, I cleared some scrub brush and it helped the ground even out a bit just from foot traffic. Now, I'm wondering if anyone has some efficient manual methods or tricks for leveling out the ground so I won't struggle to find flat spots for my new garden beds.

You could consider hiring a tiller to turn the soil over. They'll help break up any bumps. After that, set up landscaping stakes and string to define a flat reference line. You might need to move some soil around or buy a few loads to fill in any depressions before rolling it smooth. Good luck!

Awesome, I'll check out the local equipment rentals place and see what they've got.
