Can I Place a Raised Garden Bed on My Concrete Patio?

I'm considering putting my 8' x 4' metal Vegega raised garden bed on a concrete patio, which gets the best sunlight. My main worry is about drainage. Vegega mentions on their site that it's fine to place the metal bed on concrete, but I'm looking for input from anyone who has experience with this setup. Will it drain well enough?

I’ve done this before, and I can confirm that it usually drains well. Just keep an eye on the water spots on your patio. It can leave a bit of a mark, but it shouldn’t cause any long-term issues!

Placing a garden bed on concrete can definitely work, but keep in mind that the metal will heat up in the sun, which might affect your plants. It’s important to monitor the temperatures—roots generally don’t thrive when it gets too hot. Make sure your concrete area doesn’t retain too much heat during the peak summer days!

Yeah, I live in a similar climate, and the metal can get really hot. Just be vigilant about it during summer!

As long as your patio slopes away from the house, you should have good drainage. Just be prepared for some staining on the concrete from the water. I think it’ll be fine if those conditions are met!

Thanks! I double-checked, and it slopes well, so I think I'm good to go.
