I'm setting up a 3-tier shelf for my plants, and I plan to use one 4-foot Spider Farmer SF600 light on each level. The shelf is 18 inches wide, so I was considering adding a 4-foot Barinna T8 light on either side of the SF600s, which would mean three lights per shelf. Is that overkill? How much light is too much for the plants? I'm new to this, so I appreciate any advice!

Yes, definitely! Plants can get light burn just like we can get sunburned. You should find out the PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation) needs for your specific plants and adjust the lighting accordingly. For example, strawberry plants usually require about 400 PAR. You can even download an app to measure PAR with your phone's sensors and make sure your lights are set correctly. Remember, each type of plant has different light requirements, so it’s key to adjust them properly!
Unless you’re growing ferns, you probably won’t have issues with too much light. Just keep an eye on how your plants are responding, and you’ll be fine!
It really depends on what types of plants you're growing. Some are more tolerant to bright light than others. If you're not sure, start with fewer lights and see how your plants react before adding more.
