Help! My Dishwasher Smells Awful – What Should I Do?

Hey everyone, I'm at my limit here. Since moving into my new place, I've been dealing with dishes coming out of the dishwasher smelling like a wet dog. I initially thought it was the old dishwasher, so I replaced it, but I'm getting the same stink with the new one! I picked the same model I had at my previous house where I never had this problem. I've checked the drain hose, and it's installed correctly, cleaned the filters, tried running vinegar and commercial cleaners, but nothing seems to work. It's so frustrating! I really want to avoid handwashing all the dishes, especially since I work full-time and have kids. Any ideas on what to check or do? I've tried different detergent types too with no luck. It's baffling that this issue started just because I moved to a new house. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might want to check the drain hose again. Even if it seems fine, it could be harboring some old gunk. Replacing it could make a big difference, plus ensuring it's properly looped can solve a lot of stink issues.

My husband thinks he did it right, but this whole dishwasher situation has really tested our sanity! We installed it as high as the instructions said, but it doesn’t seem to help.

I had a similar problem where the high loop on my drain hose fixed things up in no time! If it's not set up correctly, the drain can backflow and cause funky smells. It only took me a few minutes to fix it with some tape.

Have you checked your water supply line? If the drain and filters are clean, the problem might be with how water is entering your dishwasher. It’s odd since you say your tap water is fine, but it’s one thing to consider.
