How Can I Reinforce Screw Holes in MDF to Prevent Stripping?

I'm working on a project where I need to attach hinges to MDF. After installing the hinges, I removed the screws to paint the project, and now I'm concerned that the screw holes might strip easily when I put them back in. Is there a good way to reinforce these holes before re-installing the screws? I was considering using super glue or Gorilla glue in the holes first. Also, should I consider using longer screws since the ones that came with the hinge are quite short?

You should be fine to reinsert the screws at a lower speed to engage the same threads. Just give them an extra 1/4 turn to get that tight fit. Honestly, adding glue might be overkill unless the hinges will be under constant stress. Longer screws can work well too, but make sure you pre-drill the holes properly! Good luck with your project!

Check out screws that are specifically designed for MDF; they typically have a wider, coarser thread which grips better. I made custom subwoofer boxes years ago using those, and they worked great! Just double-check if they come in the size you need.
