What plants should I start collecting?

Hey everyone! I've recently gotten interested in houseplants thanks to a friend who has a ton of them. Until now, I've only collected a few from my grandma, but I'm ready to dive into this hobby! I'm considering focusing on specific plant types. I've got my eye on a few:

1. **Marantaceae** - I really find these lovely and not too high-maintenance, but I wish they had some climbing versions.

2. **Syngonium** - They're beautiful, a bit more dramatic and a slow grower, but I hear they can climb, which is a plus!

3. **Oxalis** - I adore the variety within this group. They seem like little drama queens but are super resilient once potted.

4. **String of...** - I already have a few and they do really well while saving space.

5. **Climbing plants/Pothos** - I have lots of available space on my roof/walls for climbing plants, so I'm curious about them as well.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions or thoughts?

Definitely consider pothos! They're really great for climbing and come in many varieties, plus they're easy to care for and propagate. You won't regret having them in your collection!

I've got a mix of snake plants, ZZ plants, pothos, syngonium, and hoyas. They’re all relatively low-maintenance and look great together. Here’s a peek at my setup beside my bed!

If you're looking for climbers, heartleaf philodendron is a fantastic choice! I have one in my living room that started as a hanging basket, and it grows really quickly. Plus, it's super easy to care for. Check it out!
