I'm new to woodworking and recently got a SawStop job site table saw. I set up a dedicated 20-amp circuit in my garage with two outlets, ensuring I only plug the table saw into them. However, I'm still facing issues where the circuit trips while cutting plywood, even though I'm using a thin kerf blade and there's nothing else plugged in. I'm looking for advice on what could be causing this problem and how I can fix it.

It sounds like your setup is almost right, but there are a couple of things to check. First, even though SawStop says a 20-amp breaker is fine, it's recommended to allow for a bit more power overhead—ideally 5-10 amps more than what the saw draws, especially at startup. If your breaker is old or faulty, it might not be providing the full 20 amps anymore, causing it to trip. Checking or replacing the breaker could help!
Also, check if there's anything else like a heater or other tools that could be on the same circuit. Even a small draw can trip it if the table saw is running. It’s best to keep it isolated to avoid any issues!
I made sure nothing else is running on that circuit, so that shouldn’t be it. It’s just frustrating! I might just need to get an electrician to take a closer look.

Thanks for the tip! I didn’t realize the startup power draw could be an issue. I’ll definitely check the breaker and see if it needs replacing.
