Can I Eat Bananas from My Backyard Tree?

I recently noticed that a tree in my backyard is growing bananas, but I haven't taken care of it at all. It just kind of grows on its own. I'm curious if these bananas will be safe to eat once they've ripened. I'm a bit concerned about potential diseases since we don't use any pesticides or anything like that.

If they're bananas, they should be safe to eat! I have a couple of fruit trees, like oranges and lemons, and I just water them without much fuss. The fruit has always been fine for me. So, I wouldn't worry too much!

Thanks for the reassurance! Sounds like I might be in the clear.

Have you thought about doing a soil test? It could help ease any worries if you're concerned about contamination. Just make sure it’s not near any lead paint.

No tests yet, but it’s tucked away in a corner, so no worries about paint.

Using pesticides isn't the way to get sick from fruit. Actually, being too reliant on them can cause problems. Also, I'd love to see a pic of your banana tree!

Haha, yeah, I’ll post a pic soon! Just trying to keep it natural.
