Hey everyone! I recently tackled replacing a shower mixing valve that was seriously clogged with mineral deposits and had really poor water pressure. It was my first time soldering copper pipes, but I figured if I can handle electronics, I can handle this with some flux, heat, and solder. Everything seems okay so far—no leaks detected—but I'm feeling a bit anxious about sealing the wall back up since my computer setup is right underneath it! Normally, I rely on the "if it doesn't leak in 10 minutes, I'm good" rule, but does that apply to soldered pipes too? Should I just pop in an access panel instead of sealing the drywall?

You might want to keep an eye on it for a few days just in case you're worried. If you've done a solid solder joint (which you can probably recognize given your electronics background), it shouldn't leak over time!

Thanks for the reassurance! It’s been about a week since I did the replacement, and after multiple showers, everything is still dry.
