When Should I Start Garlic Chives and Chives Indoors in Zone 6b?

I'm in the Sarnia region (Zone 6b) and I'm getting mixed info on when to start Garlic Chives and Chives. Should I start them indoors or is it better to wait and sow them directly outside? Also, I was curious if I should have started them around the same time as my bulb onions about a month ago. Any advice would be really helpful, thanks!

Your zone really isn't the biggest factor for starting spring seeds; the last frost date is the key. Chives are super versatile—they can be planted at pretty much any time since they grow quickly. You can definitely start them indoors as early as 8 weeks before the last frost, or just wait and plant them directly outside. From seed, you should be able to start harvesting stems in about 60 days.

I’m no expert, but I went ahead and started mine already! Just trying to get a jump start on the season, you know?

How long ago did you start them, roughly?
