Hey everyone! For the past three days, I've noticed a faint smell similar to burning crayons or that fake smoke from model trains, particularly in my basement and near my room. We don't have any HVAC systems, and I can assure you there are no crayons in the house. I've checked all the outlets and light switches in the areas where the smell is strongest, and the breaker box seems fine with no unusual odors. My house is only about six years old, and we're still putting on some finishing touches, so identifying issues is pretty manageable. This is the first time I've encountered a smell like this, and thankfully it hasn't gotten any worse. I've found online suggestions mainly about HVAC checks, but since we don't have one, I'm looking for other ideas. Any thoughts?

Do you have electric baseboard heaters? That could be a source of the smell, especially if they're not functioning correctly.
Sounds weird, but my Volkswagen used to smell like crayons too. I found out it was due to a paraffin wax coating they put on it. Just curious, is your house modular or built traditionally?

Nope, it's a full-sized three-story home built from scratch, including a concrete basement.
