Hey everyone! I've got a bit of a unique situation. My friend is turning 30 and he's really into archaeology. I thought it would be a fun idea to wrap his gift in cement so he has to chisel it out. Does anyone know how I can make the cement brittle enough for him to break it open with a hammer? Any tips or tricks would be appreciated! Thanks!

You could try wrapping your gift in plastic first. Then mix up a weak sand and cement combination, like 6 parts sand to 1 part cement. Just add enough water to make it stick together when you squeeze it into a ball. This mix should set well but still be soft enough for him to chip away without too much effort.

That sounds great! I’m going to test this before I wrap the gift. Thanks a ton!
