I have a towel rack in my upstairs bathroom that's tiled in, and it's become loose. I'm trying to figure out the best way to tighten it without having to remove and retile it, as that's not in the budget. Would adding more grout or glue work?

If your towel rack is just set in with mortar, like some shelves or soap dishes, you'll need to reset it with more mortar. You can grab a small tub from a home improvement store, spread the mortar on the back, and push it back into place. Just make sure to use some masking tape to hold it while it sets overnight. Grinding off a bit of the old mortar might help too!
Exactly! Just don’t apply too much force while pushing it back; a gentle touch works best.
Another approach is to take off the caps from the front of the towel rail. There should be a couple of screws to tighten there, which might solve the issue without needing to mess with mortar.
You might want to check if there's a set screw holding the towel bar to a mounting plate. It could be located underneath where the bar meets the wall, and you’ll need an Allen key to tighten it. If the mounting plate is loose, consider using a drywall anchor or toggle bolt to secure it better. You shouldn’t need any glue or grout for this repair.

Great tip! Just be cautious when removing it to avoid cracking the tile. You might want to put the mortar on the back as you reset it to ensure a solid grip.
