Has Anyone Modified a Dustopper for a Larger Trash Can?

I recently picked up a Dustopper, which I really love! My only issue is that it's made for an HD bucket, and that fills up way too fast for my liking. I saw on their website that there's a mod available to fit a larger container, but it costs around $60. Honestly, I'm not eager to spend that much. Has anyone tried just cutting the bottom off a bucket and attaching it to a trash can lid instead? I've looked everywhere for guidance, so I'm hoping someone here has attempted this and can share their experience.

You should totally give it a shot! If it works, you might become a legend in the DIY community. Plus, think about making a video of it—you'd be helping so many other folks out!

Haha, that's the goal! I'm just testing the waters here, trying to be a bit thrifty. And yeah, spell check got me good with that title!

Actually, you don't even need to use the bucket at all. Just attach a bucket lid to a piece of plywood and cut it to fit your trash can. Just make sure everything is sealed tight—any air leaks will ruin the suction efficiency!

Thanks for the tip! I’m planning to try that today. Fingers crossed!
