My front door's deadbolt is jammed, and I need to replace it. Since the door has a window, I thought, is a deadbolt even necessary? Instead, I'm considering installing a doorbell camera in that spot. I haven't found anything like this on the market and might need to DIY it. Any suggestions or ideas?

It's great that you're thinking outside the box! Just remember, deadbolts are there for a reason—to keep intruders from unlocking the door even if they break the window. If you do go through with this idea, make sure you have another good way to secure your door.

True, but keep in mind, double cylinder deadbolts can be a no-go in many places for safety reasons. If there’s a fire and you can’t find your key, you could be in serious trouble.
