Are MXFuel Generators Worth It?

I'm part of a utility crew working in the trades, and we've invested in several MXFuel generators along with batteries. Honestly, I'm puzzled about their practical use. When we're at substations, there's power available, and out in the field, we have our gas generators on trucks. It feels like these battery banks are only good for camping, but even then, I don't bring that much battery with me! It seems like they're too bulky for mobile use and just don't deliver the power we need. If anyone has found a genuine use for these, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

If you’re working in residential areas without power, it could be a quiet solution to get a head start. Once the noise restrictions lift, you could always switch to gas generators. I totally forgot about needing to keep noise down, especially in the summer.

Definitely! It’s crucial to avoid disturbing the peace during those early morning hours.

I think the M18 variants are decent for smaller tasks. It can charge four batteries at once and has a good surge output. But taking it camping? Nah, too heavy and not enough juice for what you usually bring. It’s handy for quick jobs, though, especially when running an extension cord would take more time than just completing the task.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. That MXFuel really doesn't live up to the price tag. I've heard most contractors agree that it can't compare to a solid $800 generator. It just feels like a luxury item with no real benefit for utility work.
