Can I safely over panel my solar system?

I have a Victron 150/35 MPPT solar charge controller that supports up to 2000W for a 48V system. Currently, I only reach the 2000W limit during solar noon. I have the option to add two more panels, and I know that it will keep the voltage open circuit (VOC) safe, plus my wiring can handle the extra current. I'm looking to maintain peak output for a longer time and reach it earlier in the day. Since I don't have space or the need for an additional MPPT, I'm wondering if it's alright to over panel my system.

I run a 150/35 for a 12V setup, and while my max output is about 490W, my array is rated for 1080W. So, over paneling is generally fine. Keep in mind that you'll probably lose some power due to being over panelled. Just make sure everything else can handle it!

If you find yourself hitting the max output really early in the day, you might want to consider getting a second controller. It could help you optimize your system better.
