I recently purchased a miter saw and got a nice bench to set it up on. As I'm getting ready to bolt it down, I've noticed that securing it causes the rubber feet to compress, which reduces the height by about 1/8 inch. I'm concerned that this might damage the rubber. What's the right approach to mounting it? Should I tighten the bolts enough to keep it stable without compressing the rubber feet too much?

I would definitely consider removing the rubber feet. Miter saws don’t vibrate a lot so you don’t need that cushioning, and it could help keep the height consistent. If you do leave them on, just make sure you don’t over-tighten the bolts.
If you're looking for a level setup, try removing the feet and using shims instead. That way, the saw can sit slightly above the work surface, which might help prevent any compression issues.
You’re right to be cautious about the rubber feet. I think it’s best not to tighten the bolts too much—just enough to hold it in place. Some folks suggest that you can even remove the rubber feet since they’re mainly for non-slip when the saw isn’t mounted. It really just depends on your specific setup.
