I'm starting a new rose garden with my daughters, and I'm hoping to find roses that are as close to black as possible. My younger daughter is really into goth aesthetics and would love to have some dark roses. I understand there's no true black rose, but are there varieties that come close? Also, I prefer roses with abundant foliage instead of just having flowers on bare stems. Any suggestions?

If your daughter is interested, there's a great article on growing black crops that might inspire some ideas for other dark plants to include in the garden!
You might want to look into Black Baccara roses; they're really dark and come highly recommended! Black Dahlias or pansies, along with some deep-colored tulips, could enhance that gothic vibe as well. Mixing dark reds with blacks can create a beautiful gothic theme in your garden!
