I'm looking to get rid of the baseboard heaters in my home since we haven't used them in three years and rely on central heating and air instead. Is it possible for someone with average DIY skills to swap them out for something more modern or at least safely cap off the wires? If capping is an option, what's the best way to go about doing it without causing any issues?

Before you jump in, check how the heater is connected. After shutting the breaker off, you can typically find a box behind the heater. It's best to remove the heater and keep the wires capped off securely with wire nuts before you patch up the wall. If there's a dedicated circuit, just leave that breaker off permanently!
It's definitely doable to remove or cap the baseboard heaters, but it starts with turning off the breaker first! After that, disconnect the wires carefully. It might be best to get an electrician involved, as the wires can be unpredictable and touching the wrong thing could give you a nasty shock. If you decide to go solo, make sure to cap those wires safely in the panel. When the heaters are gone, you can fill any holes left behind with blank covers.
Totally agree! Working with electrical stuff isn't for the faint of heart, so if you're unsure, don't hesitate to call a pro.
You can switch off the breaker and remove the heaters quite easily. Just make sure you access the box where the wires are fed from to pull them back properly and cap them off securely. It can get a bit tricky, so always double-check your connections!

Yep, sealing everything and keeping the breaker off is key to staying safe! Good advice.
