I recently built a raised garden bed and I'm excited to start planting, but I have a major issue with squirrels in my yard. Last season, they devoured my tomatoes, peppers, and other veggies before I could even get a harvest. I've already tried using a sonar device to keep them away, but it didn't work at all. What are some effective ways to protect my plants from these pesky critters?

I've heard that putting mothballs in your planters can deter squirrels as well. It’s a bit of a strong scent, but it might help keep them away from your veggies!
One effective way to shield your plants is to use insect netting until they grow big enough to withstand any squirrel attention. It acts as a barrier to keep those little thieves out while your plants establish themselves.
Consider building a wire mesh cage over your raised bed. It should be large enough to let you walk in and strong enough to last for years. Alternatively, having a dog can really help since they’ll scare off squirrels and other pests.
