I'm planning to update the flooring on my first floor, where I currently have tile in the kitchen and entryway, and carpet in the office and dining room (seriously, who thought that was a good idea?). After some thought, I'm leaning towards waterproof laminate flooring that mimics wood, as it seems like the best and simplest choice. I don't need to do it all at once, and I can buy everything I need at once too. Any suggestions for high-quality options that look great and can handle wear and tear?

I’d definitely recommend looking into LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank). It’s not the cheapest option, but you don’t have to go for the top-of-the-line stuff either. Just make sure you learn how to install it properly, because it’s not just a simple "click" installation. It's worth the effort!
Just a heads up, there's really no such thing as truly waterproof laminate. It’s more about being semi-waterproof or having limited waterproofing. For something that can really handle moisture, you should go with LVP.
Definitely go for LVP! Look for a rigid or solid core option, and the thicker, the better. Just ensure the surface you’re installing on is flat—no dips or bumps! I like ones with a high grain texture and visible grooves between planks for a more realistic wood look. Aim for at least a 20 mil wear layer or more, and choose longer planks for larger spaces.
