I'm trying to find untreated cedar wood to build vegetable beds, but I'm having a tough time in North Alabama. Back in Seattle, I could easily find it at places like Home Depot and Lowe's, but here it seems impossible. I've called a couple of local lumber yards, and they don't seem to know what I'm talking about or don't want to help since I'm not ordering in bulk. Has anyone else faced this issue? Are there alternative types of wood I could use instead?

Just so you know, treated wood these days, especially those containing only copper, are generally considered safe for the environment and shouldn’t harm your veggies. If untreated cedar is hard to get, you could look into using treated wood as a safer alternative.
I understand your frustration! Good news—I've heard that the Lowe's in Homewood, AL, has untreated cedar available. It might be worth checking out if you can get there!

Really??! This is the information I was fishing for. Thank you!!
