I made the mistake of planting mint in an 8x3ft raised bed with my veggies four summers ago, and now it has completely taken over! Despite my efforts to weed out the mint leaves and roots every off season, it comes back stronger each spring and summer. I've discovered that even after cold months, the roots are still thriving, making it really hard to till the soil. I'm looking for effective methods to permanently eliminate the mint while keeping my soil safe for other plants. Also, what can I do about the mint that's escaping my garden bed? I've seen suggestions about covering the soil, but I'm worried it won't do anything about the roots. I could really use some solid advice here—thanks for any tips!

You can keep pulling the mint out to starve the roots; it might take a while but it helps. Some people also suggest using vinegar or boiling water as a natural herbicide. You can even try smothering the mint with cardboard or mulch to cut off sunlight. Just be persistent!
Honestly, it’s all about continuous pulling. Try to prevent it from flowering and going to seed, that’s key! If you can exhaust the seed bank, it should help lessen the overgrowth. But get ready, it’s a long battle! Those roots are persistent! Good luck!
Lol, your options are pretty wild! But in all seriousness, you could make a small mint business if you really wanted to. Seriously though, you’re already invested, so just keep at it!

Yeah, it sounds like I’m in for a long fight! Thanks for the tips, I’ll definitely keep at it.
