Why is My Thanksgiving Cactus Blooming in March?

I got a Thanksgiving cactus around the usual November time. It had some buds but dropped them, likely due to the shock of moving it from where I bought it to my workplace. Now, unexpectedly, it's blooming again—only one full flower and one healthy bud so far. I thought these plants only bloom around November. Can anyone explain what might be happening here? Is it just one of those quirks of nature?

It's actually quite common for Thanksgiving cacti to bloom at odd times if the conditions are right. They usually need cool nights below 65F and about 12 hours of darkness. So, it's likely that your cactus is just following its natural cycles, even out of season!

Thanks for the info! I guess I'll just embrace the unexpected blooms.

Plants are influenced by their environment rather than sticking to a calendar month. Since you moved your cactus, the new conditions might have triggered it to bloom again. Just enjoy the blooms!

It seems pretty normal! One of my Thanksgiving cacti is still blooming too, and I've heard others are experiencing the same. Enjoy your flowers!
