Hey everyone! I'm currently in the midst of a renovation, and I want to make sure I cover all my bases. Is there a home improvement that you wish you had tackled sooner? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Here’s my tip: always add more outlets than you think you’ll need! I wish I had added extra ones near vanities and under countertops. I even wish I had put in USB-C ports in every room. I made the mistake of thinking I had enough, but I was wrong!
As for the hand soap dispenser, I found a great solution for it online that simplifies refilling. It lasts for a month or two instead of constantly running out!
If you get the chance, adding an extra half bath can really boost your home’s value and make it much more convenient day-to-day.
I also wish I had made my home more accessible earlier. I only adapted doorways and bathrooms when my mom needed a walker. I can manage it now, but it would have been so much easier if I had done it before!
Adding a storm door was a game changer for me! It brings in so much extra light and ventilation. Honestly, I don’t know why I waited so long to do it.
Honestly, my best advice is to make your space your own now and not wait another thirty years to tackle updates. Enjoy the renovation process and your home in the meantime!
Looking back, I wish I had ripped out all the old wiring and pipes as soon as renovations started. Now, after 15 years, those old cast iron pipes are finally giving me trouble. If I had just addressed it back then, it would have saved me a lot of headaches later!
Where did you move the wires and pipes to? We replaced all the electrics when we had the ceilings out during our renovation. It made sense but now I wonder if we should have relocated more of it.
One thing I really wish I had done earlier was to air seal the entire house before starting renovations. When we first moved into our place in a cold climate, I had no clue about air sealing. It would have saved us a ton on utility bills, especially with heating!
I completely agree! I wish I had done that too, plus updating the insulation. I've spent so much on heating, basically warming the outdoors. If I had done it sooner, the savings would have paid for itself in the long run.

I recently replaced every outlet in my old house and wanted to be clever with USB placements, but now I wish I had just put them everywhere. Better safe than sorry!.
