I've got builder-grade carpet that has actually held up pretty well for 12 years, but it's time to replace it. Our busy lives make it tough to tackle this project all at once, especially with king-sized beds and furniture bolted to the wall. I'm wondering if we can replace the carpet in just a few rooms at a time, taking it slow. It might look a bit odd while we do it, but can we make this work?

It all depends on matching the color and pattern across the rooms. If you're using the same style for the whole floor, buying everything at once is key to avoiding mismatches later on. Also, if you can store the carpet until you're ready to install, that’s another option. But if the rooms are separated by different flooring, you can mix it up a bit more!
Absolutely, you can do it in stages! Just keep in mind that every time the installer comes out, there might be a fee for mobilization, which can add up. If you’re flexible, they may even fit you in for smaller jobs when things open up. But yes, seams will be unavoidable regardless of the approach!
You can definitely do it a couple of rooms at a time, but just know it might cost you more in the long run. A big portion of the installation cost is related to travel and setup, so installers would prefer to do everything at once. If you can manage furniture movements, it can definitely streamline the process!
I totally get that! When I did my bedrooms, I left a lot of furniture in the hall. If I'd had the installers place it in the rooms, they could have moved things around and saved us a lot of hassle.

Interesting point! Someone told us to avoid seams in doorways, which made me think they were trying to upsell us on carpet!
