What to Do with a Rotted Wheelie Bin of Compost Left by Previous Owners?

Hey there! So, I recently moved into a new house and found a wheelie bin filled with what seems to be a really bad attempt at composting by the previous owners. It's too heavy for me to even move, and honestly, I'm not keen on spreading this disgusting mess around my garden because it might have things like old food and dog waste in it, which could attract rodents. Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with this situation without making it worse?

If the council isn’t an option, you could consider getting some wormery worms and let them work their magic over time. Just add some dry soil for them to hide in, and keep the lid slightly open on dry days to help things dry out. Yes, it takes patience, but it’s less effort than moving it around!

If you’re not planning to keep the bin, why not just leave it be for a year? Everything will break down into compost eventually, and then you can deal with it later without the stench! Just make sure to keep it from direct sunlight to avoid cooking any worms you might add later.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I really need it gone soon. The smell is unbearable in that corner!

It sounds like a tough spot! When I moved in, I had a similar discovery with bins full of junk. I just contacted my local council, and they came to help clear it all away. You might want to give that a shot!
