Anyone Remember This Router Tool for Cutting Spiral Legs?

A while back, I used a tool designed to work with a router that could hold a long piece of wood between two centers. It featured a sled that allowed the router to slide along the length of the machine, which was about 6 feet long (they made longer versions too). It had indexing plates for creating multifaceted table legs and geared plates for cutting spirals in the wood. The machine I remember was red, and I can't recall the manufacturer's name. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The first tool that popped into my mind was a Shopsmith, but that didn't fit your description of a red machine without a motor. It might be a router mill or duplicator that lets you copy from an existing piece. Do you remember when you first got it?

I picked it up around 2005, and they were still in operation as of 2016. It wasn't a Shopsmith, though. It could duplicate items, but I mainly used it for making tapered table legs.

What you're describing seems more like a lathe equipped with attachments for spiral cutting. I've seen setups where the workpiece twists as the router moves along it, which could be what you mean. They often call those barley twist setups, but I haven't seen a dedicated tool for this.

I know about indexing lathe attachments, but this tool was a standalone unit. It was built from 20/20 aluminum extrusion and didn’t have a motor.

Sounds a lot like the Router Crafter by Craftsman, but it was silver and black. I'm not sure if that matches what you're thinking about.

Thanks for the input, but I don’t think it was Craftsman. I remember it being from a company that specialized in these types of tools.

Based on your description, I think it could be a tool made by Legacy Ornamental or Revo.

Bingo! That was it, it was Legacy! Thanks so much for your help!
