I recently bought a few succulents and repotted them into one large container. However, one of them is starting to look like it's melting, and I'm really worried. I mixed my own potting soil using equal parts black kow, topsoil, and peat moss. After transplanting, I watered the plants, but I haven't added any water since. What steps should I take to help my succulent? Thanks for any advice!

From what you described, it sounds like bacterial soft rot, especially if it’s getting mushy inside. Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do once it starts. You’ll need to amputate any affected parts, and try using Physan to kill off any bacteria in the soil. Just keep it away from your other plants to avoid spreading!
It sounds like your succulent might be overwatered, especially since your soil mix may not be ideal for these plants. Succulents typically thrive in soil that has at least 50% non-absorbent grit to ensure good drainage. Not sure about the peat moss—might want to skip that next time. When you repot succulents, it's generally best to wait about 7 to 10 days before watering again. Handling the roots during repotting can make them susceptible to rot if watered immediately after. It’s also important to have some inorganic materials in your soil to let the roots breathe!
