How Can I Cat-Proof My Balcony Without Damage?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some advice on how to cat-proof my balcony at my new two-story house. The balcony has a really tall ledge and I want to keep my cats safe without causing any damage since it's a rental. My main goals are: 1) to deter them from jumping or sitting on the ledge, 2) to do this on a budget, 3) and to find a DIY solution that's effective. I've seen a lot of recommendations for plexiglass, but I need help on how to install it properly to ensure it stays secure. Any other ideas would also be great, as I'd like to get this done this weekend! Thanks for any tips!

Honestly, I don't think it's that big of a safety risk for your cats! They might try to jump onto the railing, but even if they do fall, it's unlikely they'll get hurt. Cats can be pretty sturdy and might just learn to be more cautious after a fall. I mean, mine have been in similar situations and are still here, haha!

Thanks for your input! I appreciate it. I didn't really consider the railing's upright pickets before; my main worry is that my klutzy cats could get hurt since this is their first time in a 2-story house.

Exactly! I have one chunky cat who isn't the most graceful, so I really want to play it safe.

Consider using plastic outdoor garden netting or fencing! You can weave it through the balusters and secure it with zip-ties. It’s pretty easy and should keep your cats from slipping out.

Oh, that sounds doable! Can you give me more details about how to set it up? I found a plastic hardware net online and I'm wondering if that would work?
