What Kind of Carrots Does Costco Use for Their Baby Carrots?

Hey everyone! I'm diving into container gardening this year and have been obsessed with the baby carrots from Costco. I thought it would be fun to try growing them myself, but when I checked out seed catalogs, I got overwhelmed by all the different names. If anyone can tell me what type of seeds match those delicious baby carrots from Costco, I'd really appreciate it! Just for context, I love eating raw veggies daily and the thing I enjoy most about the Costco baby carrots is their small size and that perfect slightly sweet flavor—not overly sweet, just right! Oh, and I just found out baby carrots are actually trimmed down from regular carrots; thanks to everyone who cleared that up for me!

Yeah, baby carrots are just regular carrots that weren't pretty enough for sale, so farmers cut them down to a smaller size. If you're interested in growing mini carrots, I'd recommend trying fingerling carrot seeds; they grow to about the size of a finger and are pretty tasty!

Thanks for the recommendation! I didn’t even know there were fingerling seeds out there!

Just a heads up, Costco's baby carrots are typically a marketing gimmick. They could be from a variety that's not sold to home gardeners, which is a bummer. I'd try contacting the company that supplies them if you really want the same ones, though. Otherwise, stick to the Parisienne variety or fingerlings for a similar experience!

You might find it tricky to grow baby carrots since they are just regular carrots trimmed down to size. Most baby carrots in stores are the same. However, if you're looking for something that mimics the small size, I suggest trying "Parisienne" carrots. They're round and small, perfect for container gardening!

Thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely check out the Parisienne variety!
