Has Kohler’s Quality Declined?

I just moved into a new condo and did some renovations, replacing the kitchen and bathroom sinks. I'm really disappointed with my new Kohler sink! I had to buy new drains because the ones that came with it were cheap and hard to install. The metal feels flimsy, easily scratches, and the welds look rough with gaps. Even the drain stoppers are made of plastic. My contractor charged me $1400 for it, and I'm shocked at how low-quality it seems. Is it just me, or has Kohler's quality dropped? I'm also worried my contractor might have gotten a knock-off with the Kohler name on it. Any suggestions for a different brand? I'm willing to pay for quality, but after this, I don't think I'll buy Kohler again.

Following this thread since I'm also thinking of replacing my Kohler sink. I'm torn between ordering an exact replacement from Kohler or checking out local dealers. Has anyone else had luck with the direct experiences?

Just a heads-up, if you’re getting a faucet set, some come with plastic drains. You’ll need to order a proper metal one separately.

Totally agree! It's worth visiting a dealer. I've always trusted Kohler for their quality, but sounds like things might have changed.

It sounds like your contractor might have sourced the sink from a big box store like Home Depot, where they often have lower-quality versions of Kohler products. If you want the best quality, definitely try to get Kohler products from an authorized dealer. There's a significant difference in quality between what's available at home improvement stores and what you'd find at a specialized retailer.

Right? I've had great Kohler sinks for over 13 years without a scratch. I suspect your current one won't last long with those issues.
