Should I Remove or Undercut Baseboards for LVP Installation?

Hey everyone! We're selling our house and planning to install Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) flooring before listing it. Currently, we have stained concrete flooring, and the baseboards are installed about 1/2 inch off the ground to prepare for future flooring installs. However, I noticed that in some spots, the test piece of LVP doesn't fit right. Instead of removing the baseboards, I'm considering using an undercut saw to trim the bottom of the baseboards for more clearance. Is this a good idea, or should I just uninstall the baseboards and put them back on top of the new flooring? Here's a video that inspired me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htYSZE6_H08

I completely agree with removing the baseboards. It's really the best way to ensure a proper fit and a nice finish. Skipping that step can lead to issues later on. And yes, since you're on concrete, moisture protection is crucial, so don't skip that part!

I’d suggest going for a clean look and removing the baseboards. You’ll need to undercut the door trim anyway, plus removing them ensures everything looks neat and tidy once the LVP is down. Also, don't forget to lay down a moisture barrier under the LVP since you're installing it over concrete!

Wait, if the LVP has its own underlayment, do we still need that moisture barrier?
