Is it really necessary to replace the entire faucet for a simple drip?

I just found out from my contractor that a minor leak from my faucet, which is just a drop every few seconds, means I need a full replacement instead of just changing out the cartridge. They mentioned that it might be due to a broken seal or corrosion. I was actually expecting a simple fix, and now I'm feeling a bit suspicious about this diagnosis. Does anyone have insights on whether this is true, or if I should consider just swapping out the cartridge instead?

Honestly, replacing a faucet can be super easy and you could totally DIY it in about ten minutes. Why pay for a plumber if you can do it yourself? Take a look at some how-to videos online—it could save you a lot of trouble and money.

Exactly! It's wild how some people just complain rather than finding a solution. You could’ve already changed the faucet and learned something new!

Right? It’s definitely worth trying to fix it yourself first. Worst case, you still need a new one. But you'll save money trying!

You could consider getting a more affordable faucet from Amazon and installing it yourself. It's a straightforward process and usually costs between $50 and $150. Just make sure you have some pliers handy!

I wouldn't recommend cheap faucets for essential services like water. You want something reliable that won't lead to more issues down the line.

It really depends on the specifics of your faucet. Sometimes, if it's leaking at the mouth, changing the cartridges alone won't solve it. It might indeed require a full replacement if there's significant corrosion.

Exactly! You’ve got to look for the real problem. Corrosion can really throw a wrench in just changing cartridges.
