Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a situation here. I came home from work to find that there's a brand new wire wrapped around my tree after an Xfinity truck was in my backyard. I've tried reaching out to Xfinity about it, but they keep closing my ticket and insisting it's not theirs. I'm pretty sure it's not a power line either, as it's looped around another line that's way too high for me to reach. I'm wondering what kind of wire this could be and who I should contact to have it removed. Here's a photo of the wire: https://imgur.com/a/XPvCt1B.

You might want to contact your state's utility regulatory agency about this. If it's wrapped around a power line, avoid touching it. If it’s a lower line, you could coil it and secure it to a pole—but I wouldn’t try that if it’s tangled in branches. Definitely report it to the regulators first.
If that wire is attached to a power pole, the utility company should have records of it since they charge fees for attachments. Give them a call to see if they can help tie it up or provide some direction before going to the regulatory agency.
Thanks! I’ll definitely try that.
From what I can see in your pic, that wire looks like it's a twisted pair cable, possibly used for Ethernet or phone lines. Xfinity typically uses fiber or coax, so this likely isn't theirs. It might be from a telecom provider instead.
Thank you for this info!

Thanks for the advice! I’ll look into the regulator.
