Hey everyone! I'm stuck trying to take off the drain cover in my basement shower. I've noticed there's a clog because I had about 2 inches of standing water while showering. It turns out whoever installed it grouted the drain cover down. I've tried chipping away at the grout and even attempted to hammer around the edges, but nothing seems to budge. Should I just try some liquid plumber, or is there a better method? Here are some pics for reference: https://imgur.com/a/HuJ3GA3

Yeah, they really shouldn’t have grouted that in! Try using a thin flat screwdriver and gently hammering it to chip away the grout first. After that, a hook tool can help lift it out. Just be careful not to break anything else in the process!
Have you tried using a hook to carefully pull it up? It might help if you work around the edges instead of hammering on it. If it gets damaged in the process, don’t worry too much; Oatey makes replacement grids that are pretty common.
What kind of hook are you suggesting? I’m not exactly equipped with a lot of tools at home!

Any specific hook tool ideas? I feel like I might end up breaking something if I'm not careful!
