Hey everyone! I just moved into a new place last fall, and I'm in USDA Zone 5a. I've noticed that the Russian sage in my garden has taken over a lot of the beds. Before making any big changes, I figured I'd give it a year to see how things go. Now, I'm considering swapping out the Russian sage for English lavender. Is this a good idea or a bad one? Also, what's the best way to remove all this sage from the garden?

I'm curious why you want to replace the Russian sage with lavender since they share a lot of characteristics. But if you're looking to remove the sage, hand digging it out is your best bet. Just keep on top of it and pull out any new growth as it comes up.
Have you checked your drainage? That could factor into your decision. If it's good, you're on a path to successful planting! Just make sure the lavender you choose fits well into the rock beds you're planning.
