Using a Battery Dock with Low Voltage Protection for Trailer Lights

I'm trying to power some lights in my enclosed trailer using a 20V battery, but I need to safely drop the voltage to 12V DC. I want to prevent the battery from discharging to unsafe levels, which can damage it. What solutions or setups have you guys tried that protect the battery and regulate the voltage effectively?

I'm a bit confused about which 12V setup you're talking about. DeWalt tools come with built-in Battery Management Systems (BMS) to prevent over-discharge, but if you're using knockoff tools or something unusual, you'll need to manage discharges yourself.

You can use any battery dock you like, but make sure to add a fuse holder along with a Low Voltage Disconnect (LVD) before the buck regulator. This will help keep your battery safe by cutting off power before it discharges too low.
