Anyone Have Regrets After Installing a Fence in a Small Yard?

We're installing a 4ft black aluminum fence in our small yard tomorrow, and now I'm feeling a bit of buyer's remorse. I'm concerned it might not look good in such a compact space. It's 125 linear feet, and we have to follow HOA guidelines by running it straight back from the rear corners of our home to the property line.

We decided on the fence mainly for our two small dogs, so we don't have to leash them every time they go outside. Also, we want some privacy from passersby. For anyone who's put up a fence in a smaller yard, how did you feel about it afterwards? Do you think we'll get used to it in time?

Honestly, I believe you'll like it! A fence in a small yard can add a cozy feel if done right. Just keep in mind the design and spacing of pickets; if they’re too wide, you might have trouble keeping out some of the wildlife.

I think you'll be pretty pleased with it in the long run! Having that fence could make your yard feel a bit more private, especially when houses are so close together. Just a heads up, what kind of dogs do you have? If they're small, double-check they won't slip through the gaps in the fence!

Thanks for the reassurance! We have standard dachshunds, so the spacing should be fine for them.

It should work out fine overall! Just be aware that depending on how your fence is built, things like raccoons or coyotes could still get through or over it. You mentioned having some wildlife around your area, right? That could be a concern!

Yeah, we get coyotes, foxes, raccoons, and neighborhood cats. Seems like we might need to adjust our fencing strategy!
