How Can I Revamp My Old Handmade Work Table?

Hey everyone! I'm looking for some tips on how to spruce up my old handmade table. It's a bit of a family heirloom (built by my dad), so I want to give it some love without completely overhauling it. I can't disassemble it since it's really stuck in place, but I'd like to add some doors and fill in the cracks and holes on the top with wood filler. After that, I'm torn between putting on some wood-textured wallpaper or simply painting it. The table has a geometric shape with an embedded clamp that I can't remove, so I'm wondering what would be the best approach to work around these features. Any advice on how to tackle this would be greatly appreciated! Also, I've got the tools to sand and fill it, just unsure about the next steps!

Starting with how you plan to use the table is a great idea. If you want to fill, sand, and paint, using something like bondo (a two-part epoxy putty) for the holes and cracks can be really effective. For durability, you might also want to consider using a tabletop epoxy instead of regular paint, especially since that will give a nice finish and hold up well over time. And from what you've pictured, this sounds like a fun project!

That's helpful! I want to make sure it lasts since it has sentimental value. I’m planning on using it for my art projects, which is why I need something that won't wear out easily.
